Get to know the Illinois Home Performance process & how to earn a Certificate of Completion

1: Create your energy profile by taking our free online survey

Input basic information about your home to generate a home energy report and prioritized list of improvements. Send in the contractor request form and we will send you contact information for qualified and vetted contractors in your area. 

2: In-home energy assessment

Your energy analyst will interview you and review your home energy profie. Next, he or she will use specialized equipment, including a blower door, to identify hard-to-detect issues such as missing insulation and areas where air leaks in and out of your home. You'll receive a comprehensive work order unique to your home, explaining how to fix comfort and safety issues and stop wasting energy!

3: Get the work done right

Once you decide to undertake the improvements outlined in the work order, your Illinois Home Performance contractor will make sure the work gets done right according to the latest building science principals.   What's more, before leaving your home the contractor will perform the diagnostic tests again, verifying everything was installed properly.

4: Quality assurance 

Illinois Home Performance provides third-party quality assurance testing on all participating contractors. All contractors are held to rigorous standards, resulting in better work and improved customer satisfaction.

5: Results

Participating in Illinois Home Performance means you are able to earn an IHP Certificate of Completion highlighting your home improvements and energy savings - perfect for showing off to your neighbors! When it's time to sell your home, this documentation will be helpful in explaining the improvements you've completed.
