Uploading Certificates to the MLS

Recent research has reported that in several areas of the U.S., homes with various types of green certifications receive higher appraised sales values and/or spend less time on the market. For this reason, the Illinois Home Performance Certificate of Completion is intended to recognize homeowners completing qualifying energy upgrades and facilitate the communication of related information during home sale. The Certificate can accompany home listings on Multiple Listing Services (MLS) throughout Illinois. For this important step to be successful, however, homeowners rely on their real estate brokers. The IHP Certificate can be uploaded as an attachment to most MLSs in Illinois, and it has been integrated as a checkbox on Midwest Real Estate Data (MRED), the MLS serving the Chicagoland area (see a map).

If you are one of the nearly 40,000 brokers or appraisers utilizing MRED, please read this quick, visual guide to connecting an IHP Certificate to a home.
